Gangtey Lodge

Gangtey Valley, Bhutan

Conceived as a luxurious interpretation of the traditional Bhutanese farmhouse, the architecture and interior design are grounded in a deep respect for local culture, materials, craftsmanship and design traditions. Windows and structural elements are carefully positioned to frame the Gangtey Valley with a sense of quiet drama, allowing the landscape to remain a constant presence throughout the lodge.

Guests are enveloped in a warm palette of reds and yellows, complemented by stone, timber and open fireplaces that anchor the interiors and create a sense of comfort and intimacy. Design detailing draws from Bhutanese culture through textures, patterns and forms, interpreted with restraint and elegance to create spaces that feel authentically Bhutanese yet distinctly fresh and contemporary.

Guest rooms and public areas feature a curated collection of hand-crafted textiles, artefacts and ornaments, celebrating traditional motifs while enhancing the tactile richness of the interiors. Landscaping is thoughtfully integrated and highly sensitive to the surrounding district, reinforcing the lodge’s strong sense of place and connection to its setting.

The project comprises twelve master suites, a central lodge with lounge and dining spaces, staff accommodation and essential operational amenities.
